Preservatives in glaucoma medications are known to cause various ocular side effects including ocular surface disease (OSD), toxicity and inflammation especially in long-term users. Preservative-free (PF) eye drops answers an important medical need for preservative-sensitive glaucoma patients to avoid corneal damage, eye irritation, OSD, dry eye and other side effects. The current presentation gives a brief overview on the importance of preservative free therapy in glaucoma medical management.
